Doody launches energy service line

October 15, 2010

October 15, 2010 - Doody Mechanical launches new line of service aimed to help building owners and managers lower operating costs, particularly in the area of energy.

With its recent acquisition of the BuildingAdvice technology Doody Mechanical is uniquely positioned to help building owners and managers realize the best opportunities for energy cost savings. The BuildingAdvice technology provides detailed energy assessments and estimated financial impact of proposed improvements.

"We believe that 'green' is a strategy to increase profitability and asset value by lowering both operating costs and carbon footprint," said Energy Services Manager Michael Lanners. "Building owners and CFOs face rising operating costs and slowing rents. Our green building program will help."

Doody Mechanical's ability to solve energy problems and lower overall operating costs provides greater economic value to its service customers.

"Green buildings are clearly achieving higher rents and higher occupancy," Lanners said. "They have lower operating costs and they're achieving higher sale prices."

Energy costs are the single largest controllable cost in most commercial buildings. Nationally, electric rates have increased to more than 20 percent through a three-year period between 2004 and 2007. In Minnesota, the average electric rates have risen nearly 30 percent during the same time period.

Utilities, including electricity, now represent on average 40 to 60 percent of a building's total operating costs. Energy costs represent a significant problem for commercial buildings.
